Technical Sales Specialist (External)​

About the Role

As an External Technical Sales Specialist, you’ll be an integral part of our team, responsible for expanding market awareness of our products and industry expertise across your region. Your role involves engaging closely with customers to introduce them to John Valves, establish enduring and positive business relationships, and promote our products effectively.
The successful candidate will be an individual who will honour our core values and culture – in addition to this you will have:
  • Expand market awareness of our products and our industry experience by communicating features and benefits of our products and services effectively

  • Grow sales through professional communication with existing and potential customers

  • Manage and interpret customer requirements – speaking to potential new customers

  • Communicate sales or service opportunities and customer concerns or suggestions

  • Identify and resolve customer concerns; recommending a course of action to alleviate these concerns in the future

  • Work with the engineering team to ensure customer project requirements are met

  • Maintaining records of customer communications and contact information as required, including future plans

  • Maintain and expand upon current John Valve product knowledge

  • Submit sales status reports as required

  • Submit quarterly customer visit plans; schedule customer meetings and action plans for follow-up

The successful candidate will demonstrate:
  • Technical/Mechanical background preferred

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Strong organisational skills

  • Strong presentation skills and professional appearance

  • Attention to detail

  • Work requires extensive travel to current and potential customers and requires the possession of a valid driver’s licence.

You will command a high level of sales experience, customer service and support within the Valves or associated industries (pumping industry, pneumatics, hydraulics). You will bring demonstrated success and enthusiasm in providing exceptional sales service and support to customers and our staff equally.
You will have the drive and hunger to promote and develop John Valves business to consistently meet your sales targets. A critical thinker, your outstanding communication skills technical knowledge and ability to build relationships will see your success in this role. Does this sound like you!
