This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll manage, mentor, and inspire a team of fitters, machinists, and apprentices. You’ll have the opportunity to shape processes, optimise production, implement improvements, and see the tangible results of your team’s work.

Hands-On Leadership
Be the go-to person your crew relies on — from troubleshooting machinery to coordinating with engineering, sales, and logistics. Your role combines operational oversight with practical involvement in manufacturing, ensuring that every product leaving the workshop meets our high standards.

Drive efficiency, implement process improvements, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and safety. Oversee apprentices’ development, manage schedules, and keep the workshop operating at peak performance.

About You

  • Trade-qualified (Fitter & Turner / Machinist) with workshop experience (preferred but not essential)
  • Proven team leader with at least 1–2 years supervisory experience
  • Strong problem-solving skills, production planning, and technical aptitude
  • Experience liaising with internal stakeholders (engineering, sales, logistics)
  • Knowledge of OHS/WHS compliance and safety-first culture
  • Driver’s licence required; valve knowledge is advantageous

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise workshop staff, including training and performance reviews
  • Develop and implement production plans, optimise processes, and reduce waste
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and commission workshop machinery
  • Ensure all projects have engineering drawings and instructions before starting
  • Oversee apprentices and ensure competency requirements are met
  • Manage consumables, tooling, gauges, and maintenance schedules
  • Ensure finished products meet quality standards and customer specifications
  • Maintain workshop safety, cleanliness, and efficiency
