Due to continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a trained professional who operates a wide variety of machine tools and also has skills to create set ups on lathes, and other complex machinery. You will need to be strong, precise, and know how to read technical drawings, whilst paying close attention to detail. The Machinist will join the team on a full-time permanent basis. About the role
The Machinist will be a champion in patience, persistence and tolerance. You will be a trained tradesperson with the skills and knowledge to create tools, parts and objects by operating milling and drilling machines, and conventional lathes as well as CNC, in a machine shop. It is an extremely precise job, requiring the machinist to make cuts to at least one-thousandth of an inch.
- Positive approach to workplace safety
- Perform routine machine maintenance and repair minor damages
- Check output to ensure consistency with specifications and discard defects
- Maintains a safe and clean workstation
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed
- Teaches knowledge and experience of trade to new staff as required
- Basic Computer skills
About you;
You will command a high level of machining experience.
You will bring demonstrated success and enthusiasm in providing exceptional machining experience to ensure a quality product for our customers.
The successful candidate must demonstrate –
- Technical, mechanical background preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong presentation skills and professional appearance
- Strong organisational skills
- Willingness to be flexible and adaptable
- Attention to detail
Additionally, you will be;
- Mechanical aptitude for workshop duties
- The ability to perform routine and non-routine tasks with an eye for small details and a high degree of accuracy
- The ability to work independently and exercise initiative within the appropriate scope of the role
- A work ethic which includes a willingness to learn and undertake professional development activities including on the job training and training with professional associations
- Evidence and experience using a range of computing software, including databases and MS Office applications
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to juggle competing demands, ensuring that deadlines are met
- Ability to work cooperatively and respectfully with others from various backgrounds and cultures
- Flexible and adaptable with ability to problem solve and multi-task
- Strong organisation skills, with ability to prioritise and follow through
